Breeding Terms | Fresh Chilled | Shipped Semen
- Bitch Requirements
- You bitch must be registered with AKC. (American Kennel Club) & Have FULL REGISTRATION.
- If shipping to Canada, please contact us for details & registration requirements.
- All genetic testing must be completed for breed specific genetic disorders.
- Clear by parentage is only accepted if on file with OFA
- No dilute or dilute carriers will be accepted for breeding of any Labrador Retriever or Australian Cattle Dog.
- All bitches must have OFA hip & elbow evaluations. PennHip is also accepted.
- In certain situations, OFA prelims with acceptable results will be accepted.
- All bitches must have a CAER eye exam on file.
- Australian Cattle Dogs must have Full Normal Bilateral Hearing documented via BAER hearing testing.
- Bitch should be free of any major disqualifying fault. (such as an over or under bite, incorrect structure)
- Bitch Owner will provide the following documents
- A copy of AKC Registration papers
- A copy of the pedigree
- Proof of vaccinations if visiting the kennel
- Genetic testing results
- OFA health results for hips, elbows, eyes and other breed required testing.
- You MUST have a signed stud contract on file piror to ordering semen. Please contact us for a contract!
- All breedings are guaranteed to produce a litter. A litter shall be considered a litter, if at least two live (2) puppies are whelped.
- The stud fee is payable at the time of the breeding. If the bitch fails to produce a litter, rebreeds will be given within 1 year. If the original stud is no longer available for service, the bitch owner may choose any other stud dog, owned by DL Phillips Farm, LLC. with an equal stud fee.
- If the original bitch is no longer available to fulfill the breeding, another bitch may be substituted.
- There will be no refunds of stud fees or any fees associated with collecting and shipping of semen.
- The stud fee can be paid by cash, e-check, or credit cards. Credit Card transactions are subject to a 3% convenience fee. We invoice using Intuit Quickbooks
- The owner of the bitch will be responsible for any expenses pertaining to shipping dogs or chilled semen. These expenses include shipping kits, breeding supplies, FedEx charges, etc. These expenses are payable at the time of the breeding or prior to shipping semen.
- We utilize Canine Express Containers for shipping. These containers DO NOT need to be returned to us. The cost of collecting, prepping and packing is $175 per shipment and includes the above container. This is in addition to the stud fee and does not include shipping.
- A Fed Ex Account is REQUIRED TO SHIP SEMEN The bitch owner should create their own FedEx account. It is very simple to do and facilitates shipping. To open your free account, please visit the FedEx website and sign up. https://www.fedex.com/en-us/home.html .
- If you do not want to create a FedEx Account and want us to bill you there is an additional $25 fee. You can expect to pay $250-$400 for an overnight shipment. ALL FEES MUST BE PAID PIROR TO SHIPMENT. If paying via credit card, there will be a 3% convenience fee added to all charges.
- Accurate timing utilizing IDEXX Progesterone levels is the most critical factor in the success of breeding via shipped semen. WE WILL NOT SHIP WITHOUT PROGESTERONE NUMBERS. Please contact a good reproduction veterinarian for progesterone level testing. More info on progesterone testing can be found in the progesterone information section and on our website at www.phillipsfarm.com.
- Please report your progesterone numbers as soon as you know any numbers so breedings can be accurately timed. We want to be in close contact with you during this time and it is important you report all of you numbers in a timely manner. Please call us at 214-734-4951 and TEXT your progesterone numbers to the same number.
- We retain the right to refuse a breeding at any time we deem the bitch unfit or the pairing to be un unacceptable match.
PROGESTERONE INFORMATION!
This is a chart provided by IDEXX which we go by for breeding. Breeding too early or too late will yield disappointing results and misses. TIMING is everything. We would like to minimize misses based on timing. Please follow this chart and give it to your veterinarian when planning for a breeding. Investing in progesterone numbers will give you the best chance to have a successful mating and a litter of puppies.
Remember: WE WILL NOT SHIP WITHOUT PROGESTERON TESTING!
You can usually wait to do the first progesterone number on the 7th or 8th day.
Do not stop testing until you've reached a number over 5.
You should not determine a breeding date until you get a number 5 or over.
Below 1.0 ng/ml - no ovarian activity - ACTION: Test every 3 or 4 days
1.0 to 2.0 ng/ml - rise indicates active ovary - ACTION: test in 2 to 3 days
2.0 to 4.9 ng/ml - active ovary - ACTION - Test every 24 hours until you determine 5.0
5.0 ng/ml OVULATION
5 to 6 ng/ml - ACTION - Breed in 2 to 3 days
6 to 11 ng/ml - ACTION - BREED in 1 to 2 days
11 to 19 ng/ml - ACTION - BREED TODAY
OVER 19 ng/ml - ACTION - BREED IMMEDIATELY if vaginal smear is OK and bitch is still receptive. This is considered LATE if you still have to ship semen. Hope for the best.
